Boann

Boann is, like all of Karel Zijlstra´s sculptures, long and stretched out in its shape. His sculptures often have a modest attitude and show no feet, they rise out of the misty Irish land like thin gods. Their spirituality makes them almost unassailable. Karel´s inspiration lies in the world of mythology and the remains of old and lost cultures.  Subjects come from the Celtic and Mediaeval Literature, such as the legend of King Arthur, the Holy Grail, Percival and Irish fairy-tales.
