heremiet 1 main

Hermit has, like all Kieta’s sculptures, a distinctive visual language. Its shape, texture and patina are in an exciting balance. The forms present themselves during the process of creation in her studio. Kieta says ‘They manifest themselves in my mind and thereto in the material I work with.’

The word hermit comes from the Greek ἔρημος (erēmos), signifying "desert", "uninhabited", hence "desert-dweller". Life of a hermit, both in ancient and in modern times, is rooted in the Desert Theology of the Old Testament, it is a life entirely given to the praise of God and the love and, through the hermit's penance and prayers, also the service of all humanity.
