Plums in a bowl

Plums in a bowl is a painting in oil paint on panel and shows a nice combination of a rough baked ceramic bowl of plums and some strawed plums and twigs on a rough wooden plate. Fruit and attributes derived from own garden are often the source of inspiration for Jan Teunissen's work. Carefully chosen, preferably slightly affected and therefore beautifully painted objects, he places in a specially designed cabinet in his studio. Playing with incident light, by shielding it or not, shielding or reflecting on the objects to be rearranged, Jan creates an ideal starting point for a painting for him. As pearls, the rarely generated attributes appear in a clair-obscur-like setting.
